Van Slamlocks
Fitting Service

Slamlocks are a fail safe, reliable, locking system which secures the van once the door is closed. They are  particularly useful when the van operator needs to be in and out of the van multiple times and doesn’t want to have to remember to lock the door every time they leave the vehicle.

This type of van lock would be a favourite for delivery drivers and couriers. If your hands are full with parcels or other goods when making multiple deliveries you don’t want to be fiddling around with keys trying to make your van secure. This lock also removes the human error of forgetting to lock the van each time you leave it. It is obvious that if the van is not locked when making a delivery, the remaining goods in the vehicle are vulnerable to theft.

Many tradespeople have to keep expensive tools in their vans. It is so easy to make a mistake and leave your van unlocked when doing a quick job nearby, resulting in the loss of your tools. A slamlock makes it much easier to secure your van and tools.

Automatically locks
whenever the door is shut

The van slamlock works automatically as soon as the door is closed, without the need of a key. Our customers for this type of lock tend to be courier companies and those businesses that  want to make sure their employees are security aware and are locking their vans when they have to leave the vehicle.

Slamlocks are suitable for any type of van including electric and hybrid models, and we can supply and fit them anywhere in Kent. The slamlocks we fit integrate with the vehicle manufacturer’s OE locking system and combine a high visual deterrent with a pleasing appearance. With our slamlocks fitted the door can still be opened from inside of the vehicle to prevent the operator becoming locked in.

Slamlocks are great for use during the working day, but since they are usually only as effective as the vehicle’s OE locking system, we would recommend additional security for your van doors when leaving the vehicle overnight and when parked in vulnerable areas.

Slamlocks and deadlocks

For ultimate security it is often advantageous to combine slamlocks with deadlocks. The main difference between the two types of lock is that the slamlock makes use of the vehicle’s existing locking mechanism, but the deadlock is completely independent. This is important because vans are a common target for thieves, and the experienced thief tends to be familiar with van makers’ own-brand locks. The slam lock is ideal to combat the opportunistic thief, but for overnight security it is advisable to have something more robust. The deadlock fulfills this requirement because it is much more difficult to overcome. The deadlock only works when a key is used in its cylinder to engage the lock by shooting the bolt. This type of lock is very similar to the deadbolt lock you may have in your front door. It works by shooting a bolt or hook into a striker plate fitted to the body of the van, and is a very secure option. This combination of slamlock and deadlock locks will provide an excellent level of security for your vehicle.

Our slamlocks have a number of essential features.

  • They are fitted with an external cylinder bezel to prevent the lock being forced round
  • They have high security anti-drill cylinders to protect the lock from drill attacks
  • They are supplied with three strong nickel keys
  • They are keyed alike to work on one key for your convenience

Slam Handles

Depending on your van make/model, there is the option of upgrading to Slam Handles. In the same way that slamlocks work, slam handles ensure that the vehicle’s door is locked as soon as the door closes, without the need for using a key to lock it. Once locked, like the Slam lock, it can only be opened with the Slam Lock key.

Slam Handles integrate with the existing OE (original equipment) locking system but replace the OE door handle. Visually this is also very pleasing and is in keeping with the van’s original appearance. Sometimes we find that on some van models, no additional drilling is required to install the Slam Handle.

The Slam Handles we supply also come with internal shielding, meaning the slam lock is further protected from drill or spike attacks as a method to gain entry. You can also be sure of a long-lasting appearance thanks to the powder-coated stainless steel construction and, like all of the locks we supply and fit, the lock is satin nickel plated to protect against rust, deterioration and maintain a long-lasting appearance.

Slamlocks work with the existing door locks on your van either by a rod or cable, depending on the type of existing locking system on your van. A key can then be used to release the van door latch.

You could find yourself locked out if you leave your keys in the van after closing the door. To avoid this happening it is worthwhile keeping a spare key on you at all times when using your van.

With the average claims for tools stolen from vans coming in at over £1,000, it is important that you are able to show your insurance company that you have gone over and above the normal security level for your van. Indeed, without extra security you may not get insurance. Van contents insurance differs from company to company, so it is important to read the small print and make sure you know the type of cover you have. Some policies are invalid if you leave your van door unlocked.
